Why we needed a new cat tree

A new sturdy cat tree was needed after Tigs broke the last one by landing start with just two legs to support it.
The old cat tree is now living in our bathroom for the feral foster kittens to play on.

Where we found Russell Hardy Designs

At the Birmingham Cat Show on the 20th November, there was several displays with cat trees and we were impressed with the sturdiness of Russell Hardy designs.
They had a big range of cat trees from small trees to large ones including the Colossus Cat Tree the biggest tree they make.

Building the New Tree

When the tree was delivered by courier, it was well packed in three sections which are slotted together for posting. My partner found the hardest part of building the tree was untangling the three sections !!! Once separated each section needs to be screwed to the next with the screws provided. Notice our tabby boy Tigs 'helping' build the tree.

Top levels of the cat tree

As you can see this cat tree is very popular with PIF Tails Cat Herd, from top to bottom we have Milly, Bramble, Tigs and George

Modifications to the Colossus Cat Tree

As the photos show this cat tree only has a ladder between the second and third floor, this meant our oldest cat George struggled to climb the tree.
We spoke to Russell, who had already considered this and offered to build an extra ladder to be attached between the floor and the second level and he will be adding this modification to all Colossus cat trees as standard.

One Tree is not enough

Our Colossus cat tree is so popular, there has been several mini spats over prime spots especially the top cat bed on the tree, so we are in the process of ordering a second cat tree. The second tree will placed back to back with the first one, giving us eight cat beds and tunnels. Check back for more pictures.
